What is an activation event and how do activation credits work?
A peak demand period would likely trigger a Battery Rewards activation event. No action is required from you as it is managed through the cloud communications software within your battery inverter.

Your unused stored energy from your battery would then be sent to the energy system to help balance demand, and you would receive activation credits (70 cents per unit) exported to the energy system during the activation event.
What is the activation standby window and how do energy offset credits work?
The activation standby window is the approximate two-hour window before a Battery Rewards activation event occurs. During this time any available capacity is put on hold, where your battery will be given the instruction to charge to full in preparation for the upcoming activation event.

Energy offset credits will apply during this time to compensate for any energy you need to draw from the energy system, up to the maximum capacity of your battery.
When and for how long would a Battery Rewards activation event occur?

Battery Rewards activation events can occur no more than 30 times per year. Battery Rewards activation events are most likely to occur during peak demand periods.

It’s likely that an activation event would occur between 3pm to 9pm in summer and winter. This is when extreme temperatures create a higher demand for electricity. Most events will run for two to three hours but could also run for up to four hours.

What is a test event?

To make sure everything is ready for peak demand periods, our Synergy team could carry out test events from time to time. Test events will generally be shorter than a Battery Rewards activation event and won’t count as one of the events towards the annual activation event cap (30 events).
