What we do
Synergy generates electricity, and sells electricity and gas to our customers. We also trade wholesale electricity and gas under ring fenced arrangements. We participate in the Wholesale Electricity Market in Western Australia which was set up in 2006.
Our workforce of about 980 employees are located in Perth, Kwinana and Collie.
Synergy generates electricity using a range of non-renewable and renewable energy sources.
- Our major power stations are at located in Collie, Kwinana, Cockburn and Pinjar
- Smaller power stations can be found at Mungarra and West Kalgoorlie, and a joint venture power station at Worsley Alumina refinery near Collie
- We have wind farms at Esperance and Kalbarri, Bright Energy Investments (BEI) joint venture wind farms at Albany and Warradarge, a BEI joint venture solar farm near Geraldton and wind-diesel systems in Bremer Bay, Coral Bay and Hopetoun
We are WA’s biggest energy retailer, supplying our customers with electricity and gas. We have one million residential, business and industrial customers within the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) of Western Australia.
The Wholesale Business Unit (WBU) is the trading arm of Synergy. It's ring-fenced from the rest of the team and acts as the 'broker' between our retail and generation divisions, as well as the wider, Western Australian electricity market.
