If you’re part of our graduate program, you’ll rotate through these teams over two years, building your knowledge and skills within the energy industry. Along the way, we’ll support you with mentoring, coaching, professional development and opportunities to connect with other graduates.

Apprenticeship opportunities

We offer apprenticeship and trainee opportunities at our Muja power station in Collie. 

This program combines hands-on learning and real-world experience in the electrical and mechanical fields. Whether you dream of designing cutting-edge machinery or wiring up the next big innovation, you could access the tools, expertise and mentors to guide you.

If you’re part of our apprenticeship program, you will be allocated a mentor from your first day at Muja Power Station, to support your apprenticeship and set you up for success.

Our apprentices work in these areas:

  • Electrical - Certificate III in Electrotechnology - Electrician, includes completion of Certificate IV in Engineering - Instrumentation
  • Mechanical - Certificate III In Engineering - Mechanical Fitting

Summer student vacation program

Not quite ready for Synergy’s graduate program? We also offer a 12-week vacation program for university students, running between November and February. This program provides an opportunity to gain valuable work experience and understand how your studies translate into the workplace.

Synergy offers a 12 week program for university students between November and February each year. The program is a pathway to our graduate program. While our 2022 program is now closed, please visit our website and register to keep up to date with future opportunities.

Our 3 month program commences in November 2024 and offers opportunities across multiple disciplines, including:

  • Engineering – Mechanical, Electrical and Controls & Instrumentation.
  • Data Analyst and Commercial Analyst 
  • Energy Market Analyst 
  • Cyber security

How does the program work?

As part of Synergy’s Vacation program, you will, build your understanding of the energy industry and how we operate.

Our Summer Vacation program runs for three months and is designed to provide students with a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience, skills and knowledge to set you up for success.

 

Who is eligible for the program?

To be eligible, it is essential you are currently studying a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the discipline you are interested in and will be entering your final year of study in 2025. 

An eligible candidate must also:

  • Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have an appropriate work visa.
  • Undertake a National Police Check and other pre-employment checks
