Building one or multiple homes?

The following steps will help you install a brand new temporary or permanent supply:

  • Make sure Landgate has titled your land as you'll need to provide us with the lot number and parent lot number for strata titles. If you're unsure about these details, please refer to the local shire for more information.
  • Check your property has underground power (the shiny green dome) or call Western Power on 13 10 87 to confirm.
  • It’s easy to submit your site connection request online using our New connections form.
  • Once you've submitted your request online, we'll email you a reference number within 3 business days.
  • Your builder or electrician will need your reference number to hand over to Western Power to connect your site.

Before you begin

You’ll need the following details to get started:

  • Underground power (shiny green dome)
  • Lot number or the parent lot number if the property is strata titled

Request a building site connection

There are 4 steps to getting your building site connected

Check for underground power

Look for a shiny green dome. If you can't find it, Western Power (13 10 87) will need to install a new underground connection.

Complete the online form

Once you've submitted the form, we'll send you a reference number in 3 business days so you can progress to step 3.

Provide the reference number to your builder/electrician

They'll need this number to arrange meter installation with Western Power. They'll let you know how long this takes.

You're ready to switch on

Once your meter is connected to the power supply, you're done! You'll receive your first bill approximately 2 months later.

FAQ

Who should be the account holder of a temporary supply?

Whenever a property has a power supply, there must be an account holder who is responsible for paying the account. The account holder is usually the property owner, but if you only need power temporarily, the builder or electrician can be the account holder. This way, the tradesperson will be billed for any power used during construction. If you’re not sure who should be responsible, check your building contract for details.

Demolishing a property?

Before you can demolish a property, you need to have the meter and electricity cables leading into the property removed.  Synergy can arrange this for you by sending what is known as a Supply Abolishment request to Western Power.

All you need to do is:

  1. Complete the Demolition application form.
  2. Wait 3 - 5 business days for an email from Synergy approving your application.
  3. Pay the Supply Abolishment fee of $518.10 (including GST) to Synergy upon approval.

Important note
Demolition of a property cannot commence until you receive a ‘Disconnected for Demolition Notice’ from Western Power in the property meter box.

Before you begin

Have the following details handy:

  • Address of the house being demolished
