How long will it take to receive a response to my Freedom of Information request?
Within 45 days you will be provided with a notice of decision which will include details such as:
- The date on which the decision was made
- The name and the designation of the officer who made the decision
- If access is refused, the reasons for claiming the document exempt information on the rights of review and the procedures to be followed to exercise those rights.
Rights of review
The FOI Act provides that applicants dissatisfied with a decision of the Corporation, have the right to request that decision be reviewed. In accordance with section 40 of the FOI Act, internal review applications should be forwarded in writing to the Corporation within 30 calendar days after the date of the Corporation’s initial notice of decision.
Following an internal review, if any matter remains in dispute, applicants are advised of their right to request the Information Commissioner to conduct an ‘external review’ of the matter. No fees or charges apply to internal or external reviews.
