Synergy system registration terms and conditions
Terms and Conditions
In order to register your battery with Synergy, you must agree to these System Registration Terms:
1. These System Registration Terms will apply from when you confirm your acceptance below and will continue to apply during any period that your System includes a battery and:
(a) is connected to any Synergy Management System; or
(b) can otherwise transfer electricity into, or out of, the Network,
(Term).
2. Your System must include the following:
(a) a household energy asset system, which must include the following components connected and functioning together:
(1) one or more batteries;
(2) one or more inverters, each of which is a Supported Solution; and
(3) an export monitoring device; and
(b) a remote communication system, which includes a communications device that can communicate with a remote system (eg, a cloud platform or a server) through an internet connection. The communications system may be built into the household energy asset system or built into an external device (eg a gateway device), which is installed at your Residential Property.
If your System includes other components, they will also form part of the System for the purposes of these System Registration Terms, including:
(c) other household energy assets connected through the same inverter or through separate inverters (eg electric vehicle chargers, solar panels); or
(e) a gateway device for managing other devices in the household energy asset system.
3. In agreeing to these System Registration Terms you consent to Synergy doing any or all of the following in its absolute discretion, during the Term:
(a) remotely registering the System in Synergy's server;
(b) remotely connecting to the System on an ongoing basis;
(c) receiving and using monitoring data and other updates (eg system capabilities, settings and status updates) from the System; and
(d) utilising advanced software and internet connectivity to exercise these rights.
4. You confirm that the System will be installed, maintained, operated and used in compliance with all applicable Laws, electrical requirements, standards, safety requirements, Western Power network connection requirements and manufacturer’s instructions.
5. If you are a DEBS Customer at any time during the Term, you acknowledge and consent to Synergy using the System for the purposes of ESM, as set out in the ESM Requirements.
6. Your System must comply with the functionality requirements set out in the DER Functionality Requirements, which as at 1 July 2025 are specified in clause 9 of the DER Functionality Requirements.
Definitions
The following terms used in these System Registration Terms have the meanings specified below:
DEBS Customer means a customer who has agreed to the DEBS Terms.
DER Functionality Requirements means the Synergy Distributed Energy Resources Functionality Requirements available at https://www.synergy.net.au/-/media/Documents/DER/Synergy-DER-functionality-requirements.pdf, or as otherwise notified by Synergy from time to time.
DEBS Terms means the ‘Distributed Energy Buyback Scheme Terms and Conditions for Purchase of Distributed Energy – Electricity Industry (Licence Conditions) Regulations 2005’ issued by Synergy, as updated from time to time.
ESM means emergency solar management.
ESM Requirements means the ESM rights and obligations set out in the DEBS Terms and agreed by DEBS Customers.
Network: means the electricity network owned, operated and maintained by Western Power within the South West Interconnected System (as defined in section 3 of the Electricity Industry Act 2004).
Registered Retailer means a retailer that has agreed to Synergy terms and conditions applicable to Registered Retailers.
Residential Property means the residential property where the System is installed.
Supported Solution means any of the solutions listed under the category "DER – Storage" on the Supported Solutions List and obtained from a Registered Retailer.
Supported Solutions List means the list of solutions that have met Synergy’s DER Functionality Requirements, as updated by Synergy from time to time, found at https://www.synergy.net.au/-/media/Documents/DER/Synergy-Supported-Solutions-List.pdf or as otherwise notified by Synergy.
Synergy means the Electricity Generation and Retail Corporation trading as Synergy ABN 58 673 830 106 of Level 23, 152-158 St Georges Terrace, Perth WA 6000.
Synergy Management System means any system through which Synergy may interact with your System, including by reading data, managing, controlling or otherwise affecting the System.
System means the household energy asset system which the battery you are registering is part of, as described in clause (b), above.
