The RENeW Nexus Plan includes a peer to peer (P2P) energy trading trial developed by Curtin University in partnership with Synergy, Western Power and Power Ledger (Trial). The Trial will help customers conduct P2P energy trading in the City of Fremantle across a trading platform operated by Power Ledger (Platform).
Peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading allows electricity consumers with small scale embedded generation systems, such as rooftop solar PV systems, to directly sell the excess electricity they produce to other local consumers.
The RENeW Nexus Trial is part of a Federal Government funded initiative called “Smart Cities and Suburbs Project” (Project). The Project aims to help local governments and communities use smart blockchain technology and increase the accessibility and use of public data so that: (a) Cities, suburbs and towns become more liveable, productive and sustainable in the future; and (b) Urban service delivery becomes more efficient and effective.
