Solar donations power WA not-for-profits

Six Western Australian not-for-profit organisations will be able to harness the sun’s energy to help lower their overall energy costs, thanks to a valuable solar PV donation from Synergy.

Established to make renewable energy more accessible for community groups, the Synergy Community Solar Fund enables them to reinvest energy savings into important community initiatives.

Since 2018, the Fund has installed 10 individually tailored solar systems totalling 165kW, helping not-for-profit organisations significantly reduce their operational costs.

Synergy’s CEO, Jason Waters, said the Fund’s aim is to support a diverse mix of community organisations by giving them access to the ongoing benefits of solar energy.

“The Synergy Community Solar Fund was established as an extension of our mission to help members of the WA community benefit from renewable energy,” Mr Waters said.

“We know that rooftop solar can significantly reduce an organisation’s operational costs in both the short and long term, and are delighted to be able to help local charity groups in what has been a particularly challenging year.”

The six beneficiaries of the Synergy Community Solar Fund in 2020 are:

Spare Parts Puppet Theatre
Claremont Therapeutic Riding Centre
Second Harvest
Communicare
Rocky Bay
Foothills Information & Referral Service

Since the Fund commenced in 2018, recipients have already collectively saved almost $75,000 from their solar panels.

In addition, Synergy has provided 43 not-for-profit groups across WA with a free energy audit and energy-saving recommendations.
