Synergy joins WA community to celebrate Swan Festival of Lights

Synergy is pleased to announce that it will power a mini electric vehicle (EV) race-track at the Swan Festival of Lights at the Supreme Court Gardens from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th of October 2017.

In its 10th year, the Swan Festival of Lights celebrates Deepavali (Diwali), a vivacious Indian celebration that stands for the reaffirmation of hope, a renewed commitment to friendship, religious tolerance and a celebration of the joys of life.

The spectacular community festival has become a key event on the Perth cultural calendar, attracting over 35,000 people from interstate and overseas.

There will be a variety of food stalls to choose from, arts and crafts, fireworks, a range of carnival activities and stage performances, including traditional dancing and music.

This year Synergy will present festival goers with a unique opportunity to pedal one of four bikes at the Synergy EV trailer, which will then power mini EVs on a make-shift race track.

As part of the Race Track Rally competition, the person who pedals the fastest and sees their mini EV cross the finish line first will go into the draw to win $300 off their next electricity bill.

Synergy Chief Executive Officer Jason Waters said he was proud that Synergy could play a key role in the iconic community event for the second year in a row.

“At Synergy we welcome the opportunity to make a contribution to vibrant community events and initiatives such as the Swan Festival of Lights, which celebrates Diwali,” Mr Waters said.

“Our electric vehicle trailer highlights Synergy’s commitment to an EV framework for Western Australia and will educate people on both the economic and environmental benefits of EVs.”

The Swan Festival of Lights offers free entry and opens at 4.30pm on Friday 13th to Sunday 15th October 2017.
