Synergy grants powering Collie community

Synergy’s 2022 Collie Small Grants Program will benefit local community groups for the fourth year running with a total funding pool of up to $40,000 available for vital projects.

Applications open today for individual grants of up to $5,000 through the annual program, which has distributed $110,000 in three years to 24 Collie community groups.

Synergy General Manager Generation, Dion Paunich, said continuing to support local groups was an important part of Synergy’s commitment to the Collie community.

“The Collie Small Grants Program has been enhancing Collie community for several years and I’m delighted to welcome applications once again for 2022,” Mr Paunich said.

“Each year recipients of the Grants have enhanced their valued grassroots contributions, from telling the story of Collie’s rich history to investing in the young minds of its future.”

The funds received by last year’s organisations have been already put to good use, enhancing the services and valuable community programs they already provide in the region.

The Coalfields Museum and Historical Research Centre restored the Geldert truck, an iconic part of Collie’s history.

The Collie Eagles Football Club used their $5,000 grant to upgrade the lighting at their grounds to facilitate expanded operating hours and increased participation.

Collie Library developed of a suite of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning resources, and to support the establishment of a broader STEM Learning Club for local children.
