Synergy celebrates the festival of lights with WA community

Synergy will power an outdoor cinema at the Swan Festival of Lights to support the spectacular community event at Elizabeth Quay from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 October 2016.

In its ninth year, the Swan Festival of Lights celebrates Deepavali, a significant Indian celebration that symbolises victory of good over evil, light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance.

The Swan Festival of Lights features food stalls, arts and crafts, water activations, light installations, fireworks, camel rides and stage performances such as traditional dancing and music. It attracts tens of thousands of Western Australians.

Festival-goers will also be presented with a unique opportunity to pedal one of 10 bikes which power the outdoor cinema. The film ‘Mystic India’ will be shown at 9pm each night. Free popcorn will be given to the first 100 movie-goers each night.

Synergy chief executive officer Jason Waters said Synergy valued the opportunity to support this iconic cultural community event.

“As a proudly Western Australia organisation, we recognise the important contribution we can make by demonstrating the positive role energy plays in powering vibrant community initiatives,” Mr Waters said.

“In addition to the outdoor cinema, Synergy’s further contribution will allow the celebrations to be expanded this year. We are very pleased to be a part of this key cultural event.

“Within Synergy, we embrace a diverse and inclusive culture and will be marking the upcoming festivities by hosting an event for our employees to share traditional Indian food and dress up in traditional attire.”

The Swan Festival of Lights offers free entry and opens at 4.30pm on Friday 28 to Sunday 30 October.
