Why solar?

A solar Photo Voltaic (PV) system harnesses the power from the sun to help you generate energy with no greenhouse gas emissions, creating sustainable energy which you can utilise to power your home.

Installing solar panel systems can be a great way of reducing your energy bills and minimising your impact on the environment, however you should conduct your own research into the benefits prior to making your decision to purchase a system.

What to consider?

With an increasing range of products and suppliers on the market, it is important that you consider a number of important questions in order to make an informed decision before you agree to have a PV system installed:

  • What size solar panel system is right for your household's energy consumption?
  • What product/installer do I choose? Is your preferred installer CEC accredited?
  • What make are the solar panels and inverters? Do they meet Australian standards?
  • What warranty and guarantees are offered by the importer/manufacturer?
  • What types of financial assistance and rebates are offered?

To help you to answer these questions and for further information about purchasing a solar PV, please visit the Clean Energy Council's 'Consumer guide to buying household solar panels' or the Sustainable Energy Association website.

You can sell us power

By connecting to the electricity grid, you can still get additional power when your system is not producing enough electricity and you may also be eligible to ‘sell’ any surplus energy your system produces through Renewable Energy Buyback Scheme or Feed in Tariff.
