Payment options

Paying your Synergy energy bill has never been easier. There’s a wide range of payment methods to suit your needs – including the convenience of online payment through My Account.

Online credit card payment

You can make secure online payments using your credit card from this website. Paying your bill online can save you time, paperwork, and allows you to pay at whatever time of the day suits you.

We accept credit card payments by Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. A transaction fee of (0.7% incl.GST) will apply on accounts that have nominated a credit card or Visa/MasterCard debit card for deductions. Exclusions may apply. Read about the Direct Debit below, for set-and-forget convenience. BPAY and BPAY View are other online payment methods that are available, and can be accessed via your financial institution's internet banking website.

Direct debit

Direct debit is a convenient, hassle-free way to pay your energy bills through My Account. If you choose to register for direct debit, the exact amount of your power bill is automatically deducted from your credit card or bank account on the due date – so your bills are paid on time, every time.

Apply for direct debit now. To apply online you will first have to register for My Account.

Things you should know regarding direct debit

Please note any outstanding amount you owe us will be deducted within 24 hours of establishing your direct debit. Please contact us on 13 13 53 if you wish to confirm whether you have any historical debt and the basis of the historical debt prior to establishing the direct debit.

EvenPay

We have recently reviewed our EvenPay™ plan and identified that it is not working effectively. Synergy closed its EvenPay plan in its current form on 21 October 2011.

Paperless Billing

By signing up to paperless billing with Synergy, not only will you be able to manage your energy account(s) at your own convenience, you will also benefit from the ease of having all your bills available online to view at any time.

Paperless billing from Synergy allows you to pay your bill in the same way as you do now. The difference is you'll receive email notification of your next energy bill to view on My Account, saving you the hassle of misplacing or forgetting your bill, or losing track of what's due.

Its quick and easy to sign up for paperless billing online. Simply register for My Account first, then select switch to paper bills from the 'Manage My Account' section in the main menu.

BPAY

You can access the BPAY online payment method through your own bank or financial institution's website, using internet banking. To pay by BPAY, you’ll need to enter the biller code and payment reference number on your Synergy bill, shown near the BPAY logo.

You can register for internet banking by contacting your bank or financial institution.

BPAY View

With BPAY View you can view and pay bills from your nominated bank account, through your financial institution’s website. Once you’ve registered for BPAY View, you won’t be sent paper bills by post. Instead, you’ll receive an email letting you know there’s a new bill waiting to be viewed.

Over the phone by credit card

To make a payment over the phone, call 1300 650 900.

You’ll need:

  • Your credit card number 
  • The card expiry date 
  • Your bill payment number, as shown on your Synergy bill.

We accept MasterCard, Visa, and American Express credit card payments over the phone. A transaction fee of 0.7% applies to all credit card payments. If you are a holder of a Veterans Affairs Gold Card (War Widow, Dependent, Totally and Permanently Incapacitated) and/or Seniors Card and you have registered your concession card with us, you do not have to pay the transaction fee.

Mail

You can pay your bill by posting us a cheque or money order. Make sure you tear off and include the payment slip on your Synergy bill, so we can record your payment.

Centrepay

If you’re a home energy user receiving Centrelink payments, the hassle-free Centrepay payment option is available to you.

It’s a free service that pays your bill automatically out of your Centrelink payments. Unlike a regular energy bill, you won’t have to worry about paying a large amount every two months. Instead, your bill is paid from your Centrelink payments in small, regular amounts that make it easier to manage.

The Synergy Centrepay Reference number is 555 015 042S.

In person

If you’d prefer to pay in person, simply take your bill into any Australia Post Office or one of their agencies. You can choose to pay by cash, cheque or debit card over the counter.
