Concessions & rebates
On behalf of the State Government, Synergy administers concessions which entitle eligible customers, holding a valid concession card, to a rebate on their electricity account. The purpose of State Government rebates are to help off-set the amount a customer pays on their electricity bill.

What rebates are available?
Anyone living at a residential premise can claim a rebate if they hold a Centrelink, DVA or WA Seniors Card. The card holder does not need to be the account holder provided that the premise is their primary residence.supply charge rebate.
Account Establishment Fee Waiver
To qualify for the Account Establishment Fee Waiver you will need to hold:
- Centrelink Health Care Card
- Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
- Veteran Affairs Gold Card (War Widow, Dependent, Totally and Permanently Incapacitated)
Supply Charge Rebate
To qualify for the Supply Charge Rebate you will need to hold:
- Centrelink Health Care Card
- Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
- Veteran Affairs Gold Card (War Widow, Dependent, Totally and Permanently Incapacitated)
- Commonwealth Seniors Health Card
- W.A. Seniors Card
Dependent Child Rebate
To qualify for the Dependent Child Rebate you will need to hold one of the below cards, with at least one dependent child listed:
- Centrelink Health Care Card
- Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
- Veteran Affairs Gold Card (War Widow, Dependent, Totally and Permanently Incapacitated)
Air-Conditioning Rebate
To qualify for the Air-Conditioning Rebate you will need to:
- Live in a location listed on the list of Eligible Air-Conditioning Rebate Towns (list also indicates periods that the rebate will apply)
- Be on a residential tariff (A1 / SM1 / PS1)
- Own an air conditioner (customers must notify us of any changes so that we can expire their rebate. Customers with an eligible concession card but no air conditioner will still be entitled to a supply charge rebate)
- The account holder, or a permanent resident at the premises.
- Hold a valid WA Senior's Card with either a Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card or Commonwealth Seniors Card OR qualify for a dependent child rebate.
How can I apply for a rebate?
Simply call us on 13 13 53 and we will take your application over the phone, or you can register for My Account where you can apply for eligible concessions online.
Fridge replacement scheme
The state government has announced a fridge replacement scheme for customers who have been declared in utility hardship by an accredited financial counsellor.
It involves replacing your existing fridge, with a more energy efficient model which can help reduce your power bill. To find out if you’re eligible for this benefit, speak to your financial counsellor.
Life support Equipment Electricity Subsidy
If you or someone living at your premises relies on life support equipment that runs on electricity, you must provide us with a letter from a qualified medical practitioner qualifying your life support requirements. Or simply complete and return an Application for life support identification form signed by your doctor.
This financial support is available if you’re a hospital outpatient suffering from a serious heart, lung or kidney disease.
It’s a WA government subsidy, for patients who use heart pumps, high-capacity oxygen concentrators or peritoneal dialysis machines at home. In some cases the subsidy is available retrospectively from 1 January 2005.

Permanent Caravan Park Resident Air-Conditioning Subsidy
The Air-conditioning Subsidy is available for eligible customers, who operate an air-conditioner in their caravan park or park home.
You must also be a permanent caravan park resident as indicated in a lease agreement or have been a resident for a minimum of three months. To find out more and if you are eligible, please download and complete the following form.

Thermoregulatory Dysfunction Energy Subsidy
This government subsidy may apply to you or your dependents if you’re financially disadvantaged and have medical advice that you need heating and/or cooling to control the temperature in your home.
