Who we are
Synergy is proud to be Western Australia’s largest provider of gas and electricity to more than one million residential, business and industry customers. We operate as an energy retailer in an area known as the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) that extends from Kalbarri in the north, east to Kalgoorlie-Boulder and south to Albany.
Our recent merger with Verve Energy means Synergy is now also Western Australia’s leading power generator with an extensive and diverse portfolio of power stations around the state, including around Collie, Kwinana, Cockburn and Pinjar.
In addition to the Greenough River Solar Farm and the Mumbida Wind Farm outside of Geraldton, Synergy also generates electricity from wind farms at Albany, Bremer Bay, Coral Bay, Denham, Esperance, Kalbarri and Hopetoun.
The State Government determines Synergy's generation capacity which is currently capped at 3000 megawatt and we produce about 10,000 gigawatts of electricity each year, or about 55 per cent of all the electricity in the WA market.
Synergy proudly supports the people of Western Australia by playing an active role in the projects and communities in which we operate. We are sponsors of Synergy Parkland, the Starlight Children’s Foundation, and the Geraldton HMAS Sydney II Memorial Flame, as well as local schools and community groups in the regional townships of Collie and Albany.
Synergy is owned by the government of Western Australia, represented by the Minister for Energy.
