Ministers launch Collgar Wind Farm, a $750 million renewable energy project

Collgar Wind Farm celebrated the official launch of its Wheatbelt based wind power project on Sunday 1st of August 2010. The official launch was lead by the Hon Peter Collier MLC, Minister for Energy and the Hon. Brendon Grylls MLA Minister for Regional Development.

Household appliance use highlights savings opportunities
June 16th 2010Data released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics show there are significant opportunities for households in Western Australia to reduce their energy consumption, and their power bills.
Synergy spokesman, Andrew Gaspar said the data showed Western Australia was a convenience and appliance driven society, but at a time of rising energy costs, it was important to consider the impact the appliances had on households bills.
The ABS data showed approximately 100,000 households have electric hot water heaters – replacing an electric hot water heater with a gas boosted solar water heater can save over $700 per annum.

Schools encouraged to Switch Off and win

WA schools have the chance to win a 1.5kW solar power system for their school by registering for Switch Off 2010, a school based energy reduction competition which will take place in Term 3 2010.
This is the second year Switch Off has been held to encourage WA students to think about how they consume energy.
Net feed in tariff announced
May 20th 2010
The State Government has announced plans to implement a net feed in tariff for eligible residential customers from 1 August 2010. New and existing photovoltaic, wind and micro-hydro systems will qualify for the tariff.
It is proposed that Synergy will automatically transfer all existing REBS customers on to the net Feed in Tariff scheme effective from 1 August, and will write to customers with further details prior to implementation.
No further action is required from REBS customers at this stage and Synergy will continue to provide more information as it is made available.
Emissions Trading Scheme delayed

Synergy Request for Binding Proposal for Selection of Preferred Vendors for Photo Voltaic Systems RFP Number: (PV 2)

Synergy is Western Australia's largest energy retailer and is continuously searching for solutions to deliver better energy services and value to our customers. In an environment of increasing costs and growing demand by customers for energy efficient and environmentally sustainable solutions, Synergy is committed to offering products and services which meet these needs.
In order to satisfy customer demand Synergy is looking to expand services beyond its core product range. Accordingly it is seeking to expand its Photo Voltaic (PV) products and in order to achieve this objective Synergy is seeking to source a number of PV providers to form a panel of Preferred Vendors via a Request for Proposal.

The RFP closes at 5pm WST on Monday the 17th of May 2010.
Briefing session
A briefing session will be conducted at 10:30am Thursday the 29th of April 2010 in the "Boardroom", (Conference level, Sheraton Hotel Perth, 207 Adelaide Terrace Perth) to provide Synergy and interested parties with a forum to communicate the tender process and requirements.

New dinosaurs discovered in Synergy Parkland

Two species of prehistoric mega fauna, the Phytosaur and Diprotodon, have been
discovered in Synergy Parkland, Kings Park. They are part of a recent upgrade to
the Parkland and will be on display for the community to view at Dino Day Out; a
free family fun day on 21 March 2010.

Synergy to assess tender responses for Synergy's PV solution

Synergy's PV1 Tender closed at 5pm on the 5th February 2010. We would like to thank all those who have submitted a proposal. We appreciate the time and effort that has gone into the proposals and look forward to reviewing in detail.
We will be assessing all tender against the evaluation criteria outlined in the Request for Proposal and we expect to make a decision by the 1st March 2010.

Synergy keeping customers connected

Synergy has welcomed the release of the 2007/08 Annual Performance Report of Electricity Retailers, by the Economic Regulation Authority. The independent report shows there were "significant reductions" in the number of customers disconnected during the year.
