Standby Power

What is Standby Power?

Standby Power is power that is used when electrical appliances are not being actively used but are consuming electricity in standby mode.

Many modern appliances use power all day and night, even when they are not being used. Use of power this way is referred to as standby power, meaning the appliance is standing by, maintaining a convenient "ready" mode  for instant on demand use but it is not actually doing anything.

As a whole we tend not to think about standby power but by simply switching appropriate appliances off at the wall when we have finished using them, we can achieve considerable savings off our electricity bill and help the environment at the same time.
