What is EarthFriendly?

EarthFriendly is actually energy generated in the traditional way, but we offset all emissions created in the production of the energy by contributing to greenhouse gas reduction programs. So in effect EarthFriendly is greenhouse gas emission neutral.

EarthFriendly is the only certified Greenhouse Friendly energy product in WA. To achieve certification, EarthFriendly can only invest in abatement projects that have been rigorously assessed and approved by the Greenhouse Friendly Program. So when you see this logo, you can be sure that the product is making a positive difference to our environment. 

How does it work?

All energy generated (coal-fuelled, solar, wind, hydro, etc) goes into ‘the grid’ and a mix of those energy types is delivered to your home. When you switch to EarthFriendly there is no impact on the mix of energy in the grid. You are receiving energy from the same reliable sources you otherwise would have, however you are now balancing out the environmental impact of producing that energy by contributing to activities that reduce the greenhouse gases in the environment.

It doesn’t cost the earth

EarthFriendly only costs an extra 1.98c per unit.  We've created a simple online calculator so you can work out how much Earth Friendly would cost you and the positive impact you will have on the environment.

Or if you like, give us a call on 13 13 53 and we can work it out for you. You just need to decide what percentage of your energy you'd like to be EarthFriendly (25%, 50%, 75% or 100%) and we'll work out the rest.

Where does my money go?

Synergy contributes the extra money you pay to greenhouse gas reduction projects certified by the Greenhouse Friendly Program.

At the moment, we are contributing to methane flaring projects on behalf of our EarthFriendly customers. Methane is far more damaging to the environment than carbon dioxide, so these projects burn the methane that is given off by decomposing landfill to convert it into carbon dioxide. This helps to reduce the impact on our environment.

Switching to EarthFriendly is easy - just give us a call on 13 13 53 or apply online. The additional cost of Earth Friendly will be added on to your Synergy account. So there's no extra bills, or extra hassles.
