The Synergy web site is designed to work with all 'standards compliant' web browsers. However, some parts of the site, notably the Energy Usage application and On-Line Accounts, will need to have 128 bit encryption. Microsoft offers a free download at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/recommended/128bit/default.asp. Alternatively you can upgrade your browser version.
Also essential for the Energy Usage application used by Large Corporations, is the latest version of Java Virtual Machine (JVM) plug-in. If the graphs do not work this is probably the reason. You may install the latest JVM by means of the free download at:
http://java.com/en/index.jsp
The Java site also has extensive notes and instructions on how to install and activate this software. If you have already installed the correct JVM and the graphs still do not work, you may need to specifically enable the browser to use it or remove earlier Java versions. See below for more details and links...
NOTE: If your business has an IT section who look after your computer needs, you may need to contact them to install these downloads. You may not have administration access to your PC so the software may not install properly. If you have any problems with the site please phone the web administator on (08) 6212 1641 or email us ising the form on the Contact Us page.![]()
For the interactive graphing system used on the Synergy web site to work properly, it is essential that the correct Java be installed and used on the PC. If the graph just appears as a grey box, then your web browser is not using a current version of JVM (Java Virtual Machine). This may need to be installed, or if it is already installed, the browser may still be using an older version. In the latter situation see Enabling Java in the Browser.
Microsoft is no longer allowed to distribute the Sun Microsystems 'Java' as part of the browser, so it is not included in Internet Explorer Version 6. There are two available options for installing Java. You could download a small installation file that, when started, will download extra files from the Internet. You will need to stay connected to the Internet for this installation.
The second option is to download the complete Java installer and then run the setup.
If you want to install Java from the Internet follow this link (approximately 1.5MB)http://java.com/en/download/help/win_manual.jsp#download
If you want to download the complete Java installation, follow this link (approximately 14.6MB) http://java.com/en/download/help/win_offline.jsp#download
You can also order Java on a CD. http://java.com/en/download/get_cd.jsp
If the Java Browser Plug-in fails to start when visiting a Java enabled web page, following this link for instructions on how to enable this feature. http://www.java.com/en/download/help/enable_browser.jsp
You may have multiple installations of the JVM on your PC. To check if this is the case, have a look at the Java Control Panel. You may want to uninstall older versions of Java. We recommended version 5 (also known as 1.5) or later, however em_Power is compatible with versions 1.3 and above.
To check if you have multiple versions of JVM:
