Prices and Fees

Standard Tariffs and Fees

The following are the standard tariffs available to business customers connected to the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) and other fees and charges that may apply to business customers

C1 Community Service Tariff
The C1 Tariff is available to small voluntary and charitable organisations. If you believe that your business falls under the C1 Tariff, you must apply in writing to Synergy, providing evidence which clearly illustrates that you meet all conditions as listed in the Electricity Corporations (Charges) By-Laws 1996

Examples of parties eligible for the C1 Tariff:

  • Community clubs, such as Apex, Rotary and Lions.
  • Youth groups, such as Scouts, Girls Brigade and YMCA.
  • Non-profit groups, such as the Arts Council, Amnesty International and St Vincent De Paul.
  • Non-profit accommodation, such as the Youth Crisis Centre.
  • Fire/rescue groups, such as the Volunteer Fire Brigade and Sea Rescue.

D1 Charitable Accommodation Tariff
The D1 Tariff is available to charitable organisations providing residential accommodation. With charitable accommodation, the number of additional residences is determined by dividing the total number of beds by five and rounding up to the next whole number.

Examples of eligible parties for the D1 Tariff:

  • Hostels for the aged, women's refuges and other emergency accommodation.
  • Homes for the aged which include a hostel and self-contained units, supplied through one point of supply. Where the hostel is supplied separately from the units, the hostel is eligible for the D1 Tariff and the units are eligible for the residential A1 Tariff.

K1 Residential & Business Tariff
We know it’s a mouthful, but the Residential & Business K1 Tariff is great if you live and work on the same premises. It’s a combined tariff that suits anyone who uses electricity partly for residential and partly for business purposes. The daily supply charge of the K1 Tariff is the same as the supply charge of the residential A1 Tariff. The first 20 kilowatt hours of consumption per day, or approximately 610 kilowatt hours per month, are also charged at the residential rate.

Consumption of 20 kilowatt hours per day is typical of South West Interconnected System (SWIS) residential customers and has therefore been used as the ‘residential allowance’ under the K1 Tariff. All consumption greater than 20 kilowatt hours per day is charged at the same rates as those under the L1 Business Tariff.

Situations that would make you eligible for the K1 Tariff include:

  • Farming properties where electricity for both the residence and other farm facilities, such as a shearing shed, irrigation pump or cold storage room is supplied through a single metered supply point.
  • Commercial, industrial or general properties with a caretaker's residence attached, including churches, schools, shops, factories, police stations and post offices.
  • Private residences in which a room or suite of rooms is used for commercial purposes, such as a doctor's surgery, child-minding centre or real estate office.

Please note: supply charge rebates, applicable to customers on the residential A1 Tariff, are not available to customers charged under the K1 Tariff.

L1 Business Tariff
You’ll come under the L1 Business Tariff if you use low/medium voltage (240/415 volts) electricity for your business. The L1 Tariff consists of a fixed daily supply charge and declining block energy charges. That is, the cost of an additional unit of electricity decreases as consumption increases.

Examples of parties eligible for the L1 Tariff:

  • Schools and churches.
  • Hospitals, therapeutic workshops and nursing homes.
  • Shops and factories.
  • Office blocks libraries, museums and art galleries.
  • Hotels, motels and boarding houses.
  • Sporting complexes and community recreation facilities.

M1 Tariff - General supply (high voltage)

Business customers with high electricity usage

Do you use large amounts of energy at a high voltage? Then consider the M1 Tariff. It’s available to customers taking high voltage supply (6.6 kV, 11 kV, 22 kV or 33 kV) and consists of a fixed daily supply charge and a declining block energy charge.

Businesses with very high electricity usage have a special tariff available for their unique business purposes.

On the M1 Tariff you must provide all equipment (except meters) on the load side of the your high voltage terminals. That is, you must provide the high voltage main switch and transformers.

Examples of parties eligible for the M1 Tariff:

  • Port authorities.
  • Heavy machinery producers.
  • Mining companies.
  • Government departments in South West Interconnected System.

T1 Business Tariff
This is the best tariff for business customers who use a lot of high voltage energy (6.6kV, 11kV, 22kV or 33kV), combined with a moderate to high load factor. Except for metering equipment, you must own all the equipment on the load side of your high voltage terminals. Conditions apply. Call us for further details on 13 13 54.

Extra High Voltage
You can obtain supply at extra high voltage (66kV or 132kV) but you must first enter a contract verifying that you have the right facilities for a supply this high. Extra high voltage supply prices will be determined by your individual circumstances.
